Improv theatre fun with bunch of local amateurs

The Margaret River Theatre Group will host a big day – and night – of theatre sports fun in Cowaramup on Saturday May 11. In a similar vein to popular shows Who's Line Is It Anyway and Thank God You're Here, the free Thank God We're Amateurs workshop will focus on developing stage skills. "During the day, participants will be able to learn essential skills from experienced performers," said the MRTG's Rebecca Simmonds. "In the evening, everyone can put their newfound knowledge and techniques to the test with a performance in front of a live audience later that night." Ms Simmonds said the improvisational style allowed people with little to no stage experience to get involved. "This sort of acting is about thinking on your feet, having heaps of fun and not learning heaps of lines in a script. "It's a lot of fun for the actors and the audience and is the perfect way to take a step onto the stage without a huge commitment or going through an audition process." Free workshop bookings are essential as spaces are limited. Email [email protected] for more info or to secure your place. Ages 16+ due to content.
