EastEnders star Jake Wood has revealed how his wife almost died when she went swimming alongside alligators in Florida.

The incident took place in 2014 but Jake, who plays Max Branning in the BBC One soap, has admitted that the story still makes him feel squiffy and that the kids have been scarred for life.

The family – Jake, Alison and their two children Buster and Amber – were in the Florida Everglades when his wife Alison jumped into the water after a boat cruise – only to be confronted by the deadly animal.

The 46-year-old said Alison was swimming in the waters when he spotted the animal about 15 feet away but he first thought it was a log until it disappeared from sight.
