Westlife release new album – 20 years after their first as they go head-to-head with Spice Girls with London dates
Westlifes got a busy few months ahead of them, what with the release of a new album, a 20th anniversary to celebrate and a brand new tour to embark upon.
The boys will be sharing London with the Spice Girls come June, with Westlife performing at the O2 Arena on 13,14, and 15 June – and the Spice Girls doing the same, at the same time at the Wembley Stadium.
Not that theyre competing or anything.
Westlifes new album will mark the twentieth anniversary since the release of their first UK single Swear it Again, released on 12 April 1999 whilst the girls – without Victoria Beckham – will be performing some of their classic hits on their Spice World tour.
The 1990s is coming to London; buckle up.
The boys, made up of Shane Filan, Markus Feehily, Nicky Burne and Kian Egan have been doing the media circuit as they ready for their tour, which will kick off in the beginning of June.

Were all driven by trying to create the best album of our careers, they said.
Our fans deserve the very best version of Westlife possible and with this album we feel that weve achieved that.
The album has everything that we love in music, heartfelt emotional songs and also grea uptempos that are designed for our stadium performances.
We couldnt be happier with how the last few months in the studio have gone and we cannot wait for our fans to hear the end results. We are making new fresh pop music for old and new fans alike and are so excited to share Spectrum with everybody.
The boys – missing member Brian McFadden, who left back in 2004 – also talked about their high-profile collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac, who has written some of Westlifes biggest hits: The first person we wanted to collaborate with was with our long term friend Steve Mac. Steve has played such a pivotal role in the success of Westlife over the years, writing and producing some of the biggest songs of our careers.
Steve was enjoying global success working with Ed Sheeran and they co-incidentally wrote a song for Westlife not knowing that we were discussing coming back together, so the stars. really aligned.
Their pop comeback includes their fastest-selling tour of all time confirming Westlifes position as national music treasures.

For his part, McFadden seems content with not returning to Westlife, though hes convinced the boys dont like him – all but Nicky.
The Dancing on Ice star told Heart Radio: I speak to Nicky on Twitter.

He added: Theres no bad blood, its not like I dont like them or… well I dont know if they dont like me, they probably dont like me.
Theyre kind of like your other celebrity friends. Because if you follow each other on Twitter, were basically best friends now.
He said that he has the odd Twitter chat with Byrne, but the rest of them havent [kept in touch].
The Twenty Tour sold an incredible 400,000 tickets in just 48 hours, whilst the Spice Girls concerts sold out within minutes.
The girls are enjoying a bit of gossip after Mel B confessed that she and Geri Halliwell (now Horner) once engaged in a sexual tryst during the 1990s. Emma Bunton is riding the tour wave with the release of her new album, bringing some new material to the audience come the summer.
Spectrum is available for pre-order now.
