Boy, 5, gravely ill after stranger hurls him off 3rd floor of Mall of America
A five-year-old boy is seriously ill in hospital after a stranger hurled him from the third floor of a mall in front of his screaming mother.
The horrific incident occurred Friday afternoon at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, famed for being one of the USs biggest shopping complexes.
Eyewitnesses say a man approached the woman and her son, picked him up and tossed him over the edge. Eyewitnesses Brian Johnson told WCCO: She was screaming “Everyone pray, everyone pray. Oh my God, my baby, someone threw him over the edge.”
She was screaming like a banshee, like theres no tomorrow. I just dont know. Everyone was in shock, Johnson said, according to WCCO.

I talked to some people who saw what happened, they told me that a guy threw, literally picked up a kid, threw him over the third floor banister, he continued.
One witness told the New York Daily News that the child was laying motionless…in a pool of blood, as emergency responders were seen performing CPR on the boy. He has been rushed to the Childrens Minnesota hospital in Minneapolis with his mother. A Bloomington Police spokesperson said the child suffered significant injuries.
A 24 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the assault, and is in police custody. Detectives have not yet identified him, or a possible motive for the crime, but say he is not believed to be related to his alleged victim.

Our officers initially responded and performed first aid on the child along with some other witnesses and passersby. The child did suffer significant injuries, Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts said.
Investigators are actively trying to figure out why this occurred…, whether it was an interaction up on the floor or why that its.
A woman who works at a nearby store said she heard the boy land. Another worker said the mother was screaming and sobbing.
An apparent family friend, named Selena, claimed be with the victims mother when she got a call about the horrific incident.
