Coming To America actor John Amos want to make a comeback in the sequel
Coming 2 America, the long-awaited sequel to Eddie Murphys much loved comedy, is rightly bringing back a host of actors from the original film to strengthen its cast.
As well as Murphy, the likes of James Earl Jones, Shari Headley and Arsenio Hall are all set to reprise their roles from the 1988 movie.
But, with pre-production on Coming 2 America now picking up the pace, one star from the original is still reportedly waiting to hear from either Murphy or the team making the sequel.
John Amos, who played Prince Akeems boss Cleo McDowell in Coming to America, has not yet signed on to reprise his role, despite previously voicing his desire to star again as Cleo in the comedy sequel.
According to TMZ, the actor still hasnt been officially asked to come back despite his openness to the idea – with the outlet reporting that Paramount did approach Amos back in February before talks then cooled somewhat.

And, with wardrobe fittings for the film currently underway (as you can see in the below Instagram post from award-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter) and scripts apparently being finalised, it looks like Amos mightve missed the cut.

Amos, who has also starred in such works as Die Hard 2, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Good Times, hasnt registered an acting credit since his work on the TV series The Ranch between 2016-17.
Details on Coming 2 America, meanwhile, are few and far between at the moment – but we do know this much about the plot: Akeem learns about a long-lost son, and must return to America to meet the unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.
Heres hoping that, once Akeem gets to the US in the film, he bumps into his old employer Cleo once again.
