More than 18,000 Central West residents are planning an overseas escape

THE next Great Escape may be just about to happen in the Central West with 18,146 people in the region applying for a passport last year. Data released from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade shows a town-by-town breakdown of just how many applications were made. By far the most number of passport applications came from residents in Orange with 3106 during the 12-month period. Mudgee was not too far behind, with 2850 residents applying for a passport last year. Story continues under graph This was followed by Wellington (2820 people), Bathurst (2654) and Dubbo (2430). Every other location in the region recorded less than 850 applications, with 837 made in Lithgow, 587 in Young and 532 in Parkes With so many passport applications made, we're wondering where everyone is heading on their next holiday.
