Hollyoaks star Luke Jerdy opens up on mental health issues in wake of Lily McQueen death

Hollyoaks actor Luke Jerdy, who plays Jesse Donovan, has spoken out about his own battle with mental health in the wake of Lily McQueens tragic death, and encouraged fans to talk about their problems.

The actor spoke about addressing anger issues with a counsellor as he revealed hed be appearing on former co-star Jess Ellis Dilemmas podcast about mental health.

He took to Instagram with a snap of him and the former Tegan actress, and implored fans to seek help if they find themselves struggling.

We had a really interesting chat about our own mental health, our anxieties and our life experiences, he said of the podcast. My main group of friends certainly fall into the stereotypical Male category: we dont talk about our feelings much, if at all, and when we do it is very surface level.

Im guilty of not really knowing if any of my mates are actually ok, like properly ok, not just on the outside. I hope this helps a little to encourage lads (and lasses!) to talk to each other more, along with the great work being done by organisations like Eds.

I have been lucky enough to work as an Actor, where a lot of what we do is emotion-based and I have a lot of open friends who are available to listen. However, I have needed a neutral ear in the past too and have been to a counsellor to help with previously unaddressed anger issues. It was one of the best things I could have done. (sic)

Luke has also encouraged others to talk by sending him a message if they feel they need to speak to someone.

He wrote: I would never claim to be an expert, but I can certainly listen and point you in the right direction for help.
