Tips and race-by-race preview for Wyong on Thursday

Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 – 12:50PM BAYVIEW HOTEL PLATE (1350 METRES)

5. Tapiconic made a promising debut, hitting the line late into fourth at Newcastle over 1200m. Wyong might not be his track but hell love the extra trip and theres not a lot in the way of serious dangers. Should take beating.

Dangers: 6. Furlana is the logical threat coming off a couple of second placings in similar races. Had her chance in both by the same token but wouldnt be likely to get a better chance at this level. 4. Provocative Man hasnt placed in three first-up attempts but resumes at a suitable trip and off a handy trial in open company. Expect him to show something here fresh. 7. Done Right has her first run for Clare Cunningham and its hard to get a line on her two trials this time in. Barrier one and she has shown glimpses in her two starts to date.

How to play it: Tapiconic WIN.

Race 2 – 1:25PM FREDDYS FISHING PLATE (2100 METRES)

5. Avalene did quite a good job running second at Muswellbrook behind a subsequent city winner. She settled a long way back on heavy ground and shell appreciate firmer footing here. Excellent each-way chance if the eight runners hold up.

Dangers: 7. Alam Mo Na is bred to handle this trip and shes been working home well in her two starts at Scone, the latest over a mile. Still looks very raw but she has all the upside. 3. Heavens Dream ran her best race when fourth at Newcastle over 1400m getting well back off a wide gate. Drawn nicely here so might be closer and can run into the placings. 8. Visibly was no match for Alam Mo Na when they met at Scone then she went to Armidale and battled away up to 1900m. Place chance.

How to play it: Avalene E/W; Quinella 5 & 7.

Race 3 – 2.05PM GOSFORD RENT A TRUCK HANDICAP (1350 METRES)

5. Well Decorated is improving with every start and he went down fighting over this course a couple of weeks ago on a heavy track. Goes up 2kg, which suggests theres less depth, and if he holds form hes a good chance to go one better.

Dangers: 3. Reibys Regent is the likely leader and he might appreciate getting back onto a good surface after an even fourth over a mile at Hawkesbury. Looks hard to beat. 10. Palais De Louvre will strip much fitter for her first run since October when just behind the placings at Muswellbrook. She made a dash there then knocked up so no surprise to see some improvement. 4. Cajun Music is one to keep a close eye on fresh. Safely held on debut behind Cossetot and beat one home in his latest trial but he wasnt tested at all there and he could jump out of the ground this time in.

How to play it: Well Decorated WIN ($3.10 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 – 2.40PM HALEKULANI BOWLING CLUB HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

1. Pretorius improved sharply into his second start and while it was in a small field at Gosford he didnt have a lot of luck from the home turn. Stuck in behind the leader the gaps didnt ever come for him but was only beaten 1.5 lengths. Capable of atoning here.

Dangers: 7. Chelsea Reign is a two-year-old taking on older horses and shes a very interesting runner. Started a shorter price than Tenley before a spell and has been in the market at both starts and finished last. Two trials have been okay and blinkers go on. Big watch. 4. Handspun has shown glimpses so far in three starts and he warmed up with a solid third in a trial on April 1. Will get every chance from where hes drawn and is entitled to show up. 5. Rock Amore is another two-year-old and hes trialled up OK, particularly in his latest at Randwick. Watch betting for a push or otherwise.

How to play it: Pretorius WIN; Trifecta 1/ 4,5,7/4,5,7.

Race 5 – 3.15PM HARVEY NORMAN HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

8. Peace Of Mind is coming off a Goulburn maiden win but it was a very nice one and theres no reason why she wont handle the class rise. Had a perfect run and showed a good turn of foot to sprint away and the mile holds no fears. Good chance.

Dangers: 6. Shark Alley has only won one from 10 but is very consistent and has bumped into a couple of progressive types in his last couple of starts. Will be forward here and could take some running down. 2. Plagiarist won first-up last time in at 1400m for his only success to date then battled away in midweek company after that. Very soft trial and if there is any support for him it will be significant. 5. Loveseat won narrowly at Kembla on a heavy track then up to 2000m didnt seem to see it out at Hawkesbury. Entitled to another chance with the drop to the mile again.

How to play it: Peace Of Mind E/W.

Race 6 – 3:50PM JIMS MOWING CENTRAL COAST & NEWCASTLE HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

Best bet time. 2. Lucky Mission was sent out favourite first-up at Newcastle and there was nothing wrong with his effort. He was alongside the winner before the turn and was forced to make his run around them while the winner didnt go around a horse. Fitter, drawn well and will take beating.

Dangers: 3. Bondi Boy was the beneficiary of inside runs when he scored over 1100m here two weeks ago on a heavy track. Extra distance is in his favour too, capable of going on with it. 10. Priestess resumed in a very strong BM70 at Hawkesbury and while beaten eight lengths she wasnt disgraced. Finds barrier one here and a better surface. Big improver. 5. Impetuoso improved last time in andRead More – Source
