NAPLAN’s top performing government, independent, Catholic schools revealed

THE Central West's top-performing government, independent and Catholic high schools can now be revealed following the release of the latest NAPLAN results. Results from the 2018 exams were released on Wednesday with marks available in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy for each school. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 undertake the compulsory national testing each year. Topping the list of government schools was Orange High School with a combined student score of 5473 for the five tested areas. They were followed by St Matthew's Catholic College Mudgee with 5683 points, then James Sheahan Catholic High School in Orange (5641), St Stanislaus' College in Bathurst (5607) and Hennessy Catholic College in Young (5563). When it comes to independent high schools across the Central West, another Bathurst based school topped the list.
