Japan's Sanfrecce Hiroshima defeated Deagu FC of South Korea – both of who have already beaten Victory in this campaign – 2-0 in Group F action earlier on Wednesday.

Against Evergrande, Victory picked up where they left off at Tianhe Stadium on their last visit, Muscat's first ACL match as coach back in 2014.

The streak continued when Talisca stormed into the box to head home after six minutes, burning off Leigh Broxham and facing no resistance from a static Corey Brown.

Victory had been given warning of the $30 million man's ability; the Brazilian had already sent a free kick onto the corner of the goal frame.

Moments later, he had two, cutting past Brown once more before unleashing an unstoppable curler into the net.
