Adam Scott to play in 2019 Australian PGA Championship

Adam Scott has announced he will play in the Australian PGA Championship this year after a notable absence from the tournament in 2018.

Scott, Australia's first Masters Champion and former world No.1, will return to his home state of Queensland to headline the event, which will be held from December 9-12 at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.

"At the end of last season I had to make a tough decision to skip the Australian summer of golf in order to give myself the best opportunity to prepare for 2019," Scott said.

"I feel like the preparations are showing and I am happy with my start to the season."

Scott has played the Australia PGA Championship every year except two since 2000, recording seven top-10 results including a 2013 victory and 2014 runner-up finish.

"To be able to win another Joe Kirkwood Cup would be the perfect end to 2019,” he said.

"I love coming home and playing in front of Aussie crowds and they dont get much better than at the Australian PGA Championship."

Scott has made a solid start to the 2019 PGA tour season, recording three top-10 results in just eight starts this year.

It comes after two tumultuous years in his career wherein Scott made coaching changes, putting adjustments, and trialled playing in three-week blocks and in tournaments immediately before the four majors.
