Elvis pinching himself at the prospect of a Champions League game

Twelve months ago Elvis Kamsoba was playing in the Victorian NPL for Avondale.

On Wednesday night he could find himself up against former Tottenham and Barcelona midfielder Paulinho, a Brazilian international and World Cup veteran, his teammate Talisca and a host of China's best-known players when Melbourne Victory take on Guangzhou Evergrande in their Asian Champions League game.

Kamsoba is now at Victory, having been signed by Kevin Muscat after impressing during Avondale's FFA Cup run last season.

It's a massive change for the African refugee who moved from Adelaide to help further his soccer dream, but it's a challenge he is relishing.

''We are feeling great and comfortable. We came here to win,'' he says.

''I feel very excited to be playing an ACL game, it's something I didn't expect. Coming from Africa, to be playing against some of the best players in the world, I can't imagine it really.''

Kamsoba has been used mainly off the bench by Muscat as he tries to adjust to the pace and demands of full-time, professional soccer.
