Blow to Dockers as Nat Fyfe set to miss derby

Fremantle superstar Nathan Fyfe looks certain to miss Saturdays derby clash with West Coast after the Brownlow medallist suffered a heavy concussion against St Kilda in Perth.

Fyfe is under strict medical attention from a sickening clash of heads with St Kilda defender Josh Battle midway through the third term in Fremantles narrow win over the Saints on Sunday.

Fyfe is scheduled for further standard AFL procedural tests on Tuesday as he continues recovery in hopes to lead his Dockers against staunch rivals and reigning premiers in the 49th derby.

It is tipped to evolve that the 2015 Brownlow winner and two-time league MVP will be further monitored in his recovery ahead of a trip to Canberra to confront an exciting Great Western Sydney on Saturday-week.

The champion play-maker was understood to be still troubled with signs of concussion immediately after Sundays clash in Dockers change rooms and into Monday as officials remained tight-lipped on Fyfes progress.

Some of the star followers teammates are already resigned to tackling West Coast without their captain and clearance specialist.

Fyfe missing the derby will open way for a recall to small utility Mitch Crowden with Fremantle selectors also contemplating a return of big young ruckman Sean Darcy to take on experienced West Coast pair Nathan Vardy and Tom Hickey.

Dockers import Rory Lobb led the Dockers ruck almost single-handed in Sundays five-point win over St Kilda, but is likely to need assistance against the powerhouse West Coast duo.

Darcy, 20, missed the clash with a thigh injury.
