Hilary Benshaw is being played by the long-time soap actress Gabrielle Glaister.

Gabrielle ,58, is a British actress born in Gloucestershire and she has gone onto to appear in various theatre performances and British TV shows.
She studied English and Drama at Chichester College, and then trained at the National Youth Theatre before acting on Broadway in a production of Rent.
Her first television roles were in 1983 in both Jury and Jane Eyre, but she is perhaps best known for having appeared in Blackadder II and Blackadder Goes Forth in 1986 and 1989 respectively as Kate/Bob and Driver Parkhurst.
After that, she branched out into soap operas – appearing in Brookside from 1990 until 1997 as Patricia Farnham.
She then starred in Coronation Street as a regular member of the cast and appeared throughout most of 2000 as Debs Brownlow.
