Harry Jakamarra and Elwood Gray are brothers from Broome with a plan to bring the party with them wherever they travel next. The duo are hitting the road in veggie oil powered van, touring Western Australia in celebration of a recent win. The boys sing a style reminiscent of the Everly Brothers, paying homage to the dark songwriting traditions of Gillian Welch and Nick Cave. They are at the forefront of WA Americana and are fresh from touring nationally with Woodfords' 'Festival of Small Halls'. Last year the Broome Shire Council lumbered the brothers with a hefty fine for their annual house concert. The boys responded by stirring up massive community support and presenting the council with an alternative. As a result the Broome Shire has enacted a progressive new events application process. Ecstatic about the victory, Harry and Elwood are in party-mode for their upcoming tour. This tour sees them traverse all through the South West for a variety of shows before heading north, home to Broome for another house concert. Their stage banter and musical presence will be firing. Always on the hunt for community focused, intimate shows the brothers had punters buzzing at the Witchcliffe Druid's Hall last year. With foot-stomping banjo ballads, the little room came alive with an old-time spirit. "We had such an incredible time at the Witchy Hall," said Harry Jakamarra of their last gig. "Everyone who came out gave so much, it was really special. We're super excited to be playing there again on this tour." Harry and Elwood bring their road-worn brand of Kimberley alt-country to the Witchcliffe Druid's Hall this Friday 5th April.
