Faye Brookes has been leaving us with our hearts in our throats over the past few weeks as her Coronation Street character Kate Connor is left completely broken over the death of her love Rana Habeeb.

Millions tuned in to see the horrific moment bride-to-be Rana (Bhavna Limbachia) die in the arms of her true love Kate on their wedding day after she was caught in the roof collapse of Underworld collecting their wedding rings.

In a bitter goodbye, Kate waded through the rubble to be with Rana in her final moments, with the pair reciting their wedding vows

In the episodes that have followed, Kate has been absolutely broken, screaming at Underworld boss Carla in the street and breaking down on cue – and its taken its toll on actress Faye, who struggled to film them all.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, she said: Ranas death was the hardest thing Ive ever had to film and emotionally I ran myself into the ground with it.

Things are about to go from bad to worse for poor Kate as well, as the Underworld collapse triggers a series of events amid arrangements for Ranas funeral.

Shell soon find a perfect target for her anger and grief in Carla – who confesses to knowing that the roof of Underworld needed stabilising but failing to do anything about it.

But unknown to both of them is another evil hand at play, and we have to wait until May to find out who the real killer responsible is.

Thankfully, Fayes life off-screen is slightly less dramatic, apart from a slight blip when fiancé Gareth Gates accidentally let slip about Ranas death a little ahead of time.

Complete with a fresh G tattoo on her ribcage to symbolise her permanent love for her other half, the duo are planning a small and intimate wedding of only 30 people.

Were definitely going to get married abroad somewhere hot. We love the idea of it being very intimate, so were only going to invite 30 people, Faye said.

The wedding is going to be the biggest day of our lives so Im going to go big with my dress and every other detail of the day. Ill only get married once and I want it to be huge.
