It’s been a big week in art … with Jim Pavlidis
In a series of articles called Visiting the homes of interesting people, journalist Florence Davies paid a visit to Diego Rivera.
The year was 1933 and the famous Mexican was in Detroit to paint a commissioned mural.
His wife, also an artist, was present at the interview and became a focus of the article which was titled Wife of the Master Mural Painter Gleefully Dabbles in Works of Art.
Her name was Carmen Rivera, though the world knows her as Frida Kahlo.

There are still doubters who consider AFLW to be little more than gleeful dabbling compared to the mens game.
Despite having to overcome obstacles such as poor pay, internet trolls and AFL indifference, the womens competition continues to thrive.
