Former Essendon great James Hird says he will "never say never" to an AFL coaching comeback.
Hird, who stepped down as Bombers coach in 2015 after serving a 12-month ban over the supplements saga, is happy in his current role as a Triple M commentator but admits he misses the "camaraderie" of being part of a club.

Last month it was reported that two clubs had approached Hird about coaching last year, while a third arose over earlier this year through an intermediary.
"I mean, you never say never," Hird told Triple M, according to News Corp.

"At the moment I'm very happy with what we're doing, but who knows?
"I definitely love watching footy, love being involved in footy and I have missed over the last four years that camaraderie, that part of a football club that really gets inside you."
The supplements saga took a massive toll on the Brownlow medallist and he spent time two years ago in a mental health facility.
The AFL booted Essendon out of the 2013 finals and banned Hird for 12 months, among other punishments, over the scandal.
Hird returned as Essendon coach, but resigned during the 2015 season.
