Neo-Nazi prisoner battered Muslim inmate for spreading rumors about him being racist
A prisoner with links to Neo-Nazi group the Aryan Brotherhood beat-up a Muslim inmate for spreading rumors he was racist, police say.
Michael Mathis, 24, reportedly knocked-out Abdul Yamobi, 54, in December 2018 after confronting him for spreading bad rumors about him being in the Aryan Brotherhood.
Mathis, who is being held at Boone County Jail in Indiana, further claims he attacked Yamobi after his alleged victim punched him in the neck.
He is said to have flown into a rage about the racist allegations despite claiming affiliation to the Aryan Brotherhood.
The whites-only prison gang encourages prospective members to kill a black or Hispanic cellmate to boost their prospects of joining, and has an estimated 15,000-20,000 members in the US.

Mathis alleged brawl with Yamobi saw the latter treated in hospital for a facial laceration, fractured left orbital floor, sprained right thumb, left temporomandibular joint contusion as well as a right shin abrasion.

The Goshen News reported that Mathis himself was also taken to hospital, where he was treated for a strained neck muscle.
