Emmerdale bosses have confirmed a permanent return for Shila Iqbals character Aiesha Richards, kicking off in tonights hour long episode.
Aiesha is the daughter of Manpreet Jutla (Rebecca Sarker) who in tonights episode returns home from her holiday with Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) to announce they secretly got married.
As if that wasnt enough of a shocker for Jai (Chris Bisson) to take, hes dealt another blow when Aiesha shows up wanting somewhere to live.
Aiesha has broken up with her boyfriend and hes turfed her out on the street, so when she learns that Rishi and Manpreet have wed, she decides shell pitch up in the new family home.
Speaking of her return, Shila said: I am over the moon to be back at Emmerdale as a regular. My family love Emmerdale and to be appearing in a show that youve grown up watching, just feels like a dream! Im really grateful to the producers for bringing me back.
Everyone has been lovely, especially my on screen family, who have just been so welcoming and have really made me feel at home. I have to be careful not to call cast members by their character names though!

Shila revealed that there will be plenty of drama following Aieshas arrival, but that the locals will come to love her.
Asked what we can expect from her, Shila said: A lot of fun, laughter, and of course it wouldnt be Aiesha without her melodramatic tears.
