Brumbies coach McKellar says axe will swing for Crusaders clash

ACT Brumbies coach Dan McKellar has conceded he must wing the axe for their clash against the Canterbury Crusaders following a poor loss to the Queensland Reds.

The Brumbies could have gone top of the Australian conference with a victory but instead produced an error-riddled display and were badly beaten by the Reds 36-14 in Brisbane on Sunday.

The Brumbies haven't won in New Zealand since 2014 and the task will be made tougher with several Wallabies players to be rested as part of the new stand-down rule for World Cup years.

"Well review and see what the options are. Changes will certainly be considered, we cant perform like that and expect that there wouldnt be changes," McKellar said.

"There will be changes because of Wallabies standing down but we need to look thoroughly at performances across the board.

"It was an error-riddled performance. Just too many errors and certainly a lack of urgency and effort. It was hard to watch.

"When things dont go well weve got to be better. Pressure and stress comes in professional sport and at the moment its an area we dont handle well. Weve got to improve.

"The boys are back in on Friday. In review, we need to be honest and make sure were demanding higher standards and accountability of each other.

"We have to stop making mistakes and stop making individual errors. Weve got to front up with a whole lot more intent and desire and passionRead More
