Rocketman director addresses claims nude scene was cut from Elton John biopic

The director of Rocketman has hit back at rumours the a nude scene has been cut from the Elton John biopic to ensure it has a lower age rating.

Dexter Fletcher said the film had not yet been completed, although insisted the finished product would be the no holds barred production it was always billed as.

He wrote on Twitter: Seeing much speculation about ROCKETMAN!! Thats good! Its still unfinished so its nothing but rumours.

It has and always will be the no holds barred, musical fantasy that Paramount and producers passionately support and believe in. See for yourself May 24.

Dexters comments come after rumours Paramount Pictures requested he cut a 40-second scene in which Elton – played by Taron Egerton – and manager John Reid – portrayed by Richard Madden – are lying together naked on a bed.

The edit was in the hopes Rocketman could achieve the American PG-13 rating, which is similar to the British 12A.

A source who worked on the biopic told the Daily Mail: Two guys have a naked cuddle to express their love for each other and that will be reduced to a fully dressed warm hello.

The publication also claimed that Elton himself was keep for his wild life and career to be portrayed accurately on the big screen, insisting film-makers tell it all, go as G-rated as you need to.
