Big Bash to the face leaves fieldsman with no catch, bloodied nose
A Big Bash cricketer has suffered a gruesome blow to the head that left him bloodied and possibly concussed while attempting a catch in match on Thursday night.
Brisbane Heat all-rounder Ben Cutting tried to catch the ball at mid-wicket after Melbourne Renegades' opener Marcus Harris skied a ball early in his side's run chase, but the fieldsman ended up using more face than he did hands.
With arms and hands extended over his face and while diving backward, the ball slipped through Cutting's fingers and smashed into his nose.

Bizarrely, it seemed Cutting had taken the catch anyway after ball ricocheted from his face, however, in his disorientation, he extended his arms and threw the ball away.
Harris looked confused at the crease and the umpire eventually ruled against awarding the catch.
Cutting was withdrawn from the game with possible concussion, unable to bowl as his side defended their target of 145.
