Avicii fans have been paying tribute to the late DJ after the release of a Netflix documentary following his life.

The documentary, Avicii: True Stories, shows the EDM star – real name Tim Bergling – rising to fame after creating his track Levels, with the trailer depicting him triumphantly showing off his work.

However, the devastating feature also gives clues about his state of mind and exhaustion, at one point even showing him telling his management that touring will kill me.

At the end, hes shown to retire to a beach in Madagascar, planning a less stressful future.

It was given a small release before the rappers death. However, after its re-release on Netflix back in December, fans have been paying tribute to the star:

The Avicii documentary is really sad, this dudes mental health was declining in front of his team eyes and all they cared about was money.. 916 shows in 8 years thats insane ??

Aviciis documentary on Netflix is so heartbreaking and eye opening to how anxiety, depression, drugs, alcoholism and stress can take away your life. No job is worth your mental health. Never.

I watched the Avicii documentary last night again and once again all Im left with is anger and sadness. Anger that our industry let him down like that and sadness because he had so much more to give the world.

This world was too messed up for your beautiful soul. I just finished watching True Stories and it broke my heart. I hope you found your peace up there. Thank you so much for blessing us with @Avicii and also the true Tim Bergling. I will continue to honour you and your music. ?

The documentary comes after the Swedish musician died in April 2018, with TMZ later reporting he committed suicide.

His family released a statement saying: Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.

When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be able to be happy and to do what he loved most – music.

He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness.

He could now not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.

Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.

Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed.
