No one ever wants to be on the receiving end of a bit of I-cant-look awkwardness, but unfortunately for Rami Malek at the Golden Globes last night, a global audience bore witness to his moment of shame.

In fairness, it was only a slight blip on an otherwise hugely successful night for the Bohemian Rhapsody star, with the Queen biopic – in which he starred as the late Freddie Mercury – surprisingly scooping two top honours, including Best Actor for Malek in the drama category.

As the cast and crew of the movie gathered on stage to revel in their Best Picture award towards the end of the ceremony, Malek rushed back on to the stage to join in with the celebrations – albeit a little belatedly.

The 37-year-olds tardiness meant that he had to navigate his way to the centre of the action, which he attempted to seamlessly pull off by firstly embracing category presenter Nicole Kidman.

Only problem is, though, that Nicole didnt notice poor Ramis offer of friendship – leaving the star grasping air instead of hugging the actress.

He tried to style it out, of course, but the damage was already done.

Rami Malek getting flat out ignored by Nicole Kidman not once but twice is the only watchable thing hes ever done

Moment of embarrassment screened to the world, Malek gave up trying to be part of the celebrations and opted to instead stand in the back while Bohemian Rhapsodys executive producers Graham King and Jim Beach accepted the award.

When it comes to moments of awkwardness like this, weve all been there – just maybe not on the stage at the Golden Globes, though.
