Race-by-race tips and preview for Orange on Tuesday

Showers increasing so track likely to slip into soft range, with rail true, so on-pace early before levelling out.

RACE 1 – 1.40PM: ON-TRAC AG CG&E BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1280m)

Not much between this lot, so wider exotics in play. Sticking with last-start Bathurst winner 4. Attilius which before that was close-up in a stronger BM66 on Mudgee Cup day. Shown to handle softer ground and should park just off the speed.

Dangers: Looks a suitable race too for Bathurst-trained 5. Leap Of Legend which won two starts back this grade at Warren and again hit the line hard from midfield at home last start. Has a liking for soft ground, and rider takes 3kg off. Resuming 1. Bulletson for strong Warwick Farm stable has the class fresh, but forced to carry a big weight and will get back, Hawkesbury three-year-old 2. Brown Thomas is also first-up while 3. Eyesaw gets a lovely run in transit for strong local stable.
How to play it: First four 1-4/1-2-3-4-5.

RACE 2 – 2.20PM: XXXX GOLD F&M BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1280m)

Lightly-raced Warwick Farm mare 1. Terra Reign has the class and form to dominate a race with little depth, despite big weight. Two starts back was brave winning a BM58 on Mudgee Cup day, the second horse having since powered home to run third in a Randwick Highway, and last start was solid to the line this track. Little query running out this trip, but should sit off the fence behind the speed and surge early in the straight.
Dangers: Bathurst mare 3. Worldly Pleasure was just behind Terra Reign in that class 2 after winning here the previous start, while Hawkesbury mare 4. Pretty Song will improve second-up at the longer trip.
How to play it: Terra Reign to win.

RACE 3 – 2.55PM: SOUTHERN CROSS AUSTEREO CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1400m)

Warwick Farm mare 2. Pamela is first-up for five months but liked her last trial at home, pushed out doing her best work late behind a tearaway winner. Lightly-raced former Victorian who just missed on debut over the same distance nearly a year ago, and then won her maiden second-up when heavily-backed. Has raced over further, but this looks and ear-marked distance for her return.
Dangers: Gosford mare 1. Directory was very good storming home to win two starts back before again charging home at Gunnedah, although inside draw this track could be awkward. Nyngan-trained 3. Huang Zhong (also accepted Race 7) is on the rise putting two wins together in weaker grade while Gulgong three-year-old 4. Larynx is a big finisher and steps up to this level having only won his maiden two back at Dubbo, although is also accepted for more suitable Race 7.
How to play it: Pamela and Directory both to win.

RACE 4 – 3.35PM: EPIROC MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000m)

Well-bred Warwick Farm filly 7. Unimpeded was pushed out in heavy ground to win a recent city trial and looks ready to go on debut. Has enough early speed to offset wide barrier.
Dangers: Another Warwick Farm runner, four-year-old mare 1. All Too Good, went close to that maiden win through the winter and returns off a quiet trial. The rest seemingly are making up the numbers.
How to play it: Unimpeded to win.

RACE 5 – 4.10PM: TRAIN 365 BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1000m)

Competitive sprint, although Bathurst mare 3. Jetgirl looks well placed coming back from tougher grades, despite the sharp rise in weight. Took on a strong metro field two runs back before a dominant BM75 win at Dubbo. Will come over and likely sit outside or just behind the leader, and pounce early in the straight.
Dangers: Mudgee mare 5. Reprimand has been given a little freshen-up and is smart on her day, but wont want it much worse than good while big watch on Warwick Farm-trained 4. Alvin Purple which hasnt started for six months, but normally sprints well fresh and is a proven weight carrier. Widely travelled 1. Gadfly had been finding the line well enough before saluting in a much weaker grade last start. Has a nice cosy draw but big weight to carry, so best in exotics.
How to play it: Jetgirl to win and box exacta 3-4-5.

RACE 6 – 4.50PM: NAGLE TRANSPORT MAIDEN PLATE (1400m)

Competitive and deeper maiden. Warwick Farm colt 7. Perigord hasnt missed a place in three career starts, and is ready to win after a strong effort on Mudgee Cup day and good closing second at Gosford when easy in betting.
Dangers: Rosehill-trained 9. Reptilian Rider hit the line hard on debut at Bathurst, and drops in weight for second-up task while former Victorian 5. Destination Rocks will improve significantly from the inside draw after his first NSW run at Wyong. Big watch too on Warwick Farm-trained 6. Greenskeeper which was beaten a long way resuming at Goulburn, but chased home two smart and city-class youngsters.
How to play it: Perigord to win and quinella 7 and 9.

RACE 7 – 5.30PM: BROADLEY & HAYDON CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1280m)

This looks ideal for 3. Larynx if the stable goes this way (also accepted for Race 3). Powered home to win his maiden at Dubbo two runs back, before sound to the line behind two good gallopers in much stronger C1 than this.
Dangers: Bathurst-trained 13. Electrified was strong to the line first-up and should improve with winkers on for the first time while Nyngan four-year-old 2. Huang Zhong also looks capable of finishing in the money this grade after winning his last two.
How to play it: Larynx to win

Best bets:
Race 2: Terra Reign (1)
Race 7: Larynx (3)
Best value:
Race 5: Jetgirl (3)
