Danny DeVito is heading for the jungle as Jumanji 2 casting is confirmed

Danny DeVito has joined the cast of the sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

DeVito will be joining original cast members Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan, with Jake Kasdan coming back as director, according to Variety.

The 74-year-old Matilda star is the second newcomer to join the follow-up to 2017s blockbuster, which earned $962 million (£755 million) worldwide.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle followed a group of four teens transported into the world of Jumanji where they turn into their adult avatars.

The setting is a video game instead of the original board game, on which the book and the 90s film, starring Robin Williams, was based on.

However, the plot, official film title and DeVitos character details have not yet been announced, although it is has been described as key and significant by The Hollywood Reporters sources.

The publication recently reported that Crazy Rich Asians breakout Awkwafina is in final negotiations for a significant role in the film.

Awkwafina, real name is Nora Lum, can also credit her epic 2018 to appearing in the all-star Oceans 8, which cemented her as one to watch.
