Cape Town – Orlando Pirates have confirmed the transfer of 18-year-old striker Lyle Foster to French giants AS Monaco on a four-year deal.
The Soweto-born player departs the Buccaneers after making 11 first-team appearances in all competitions, all of which came in the 2017/18 campaign.
Commenting on his move to Monaco, Foster wrote the following on his personal Instagram page: "A very exciting start to the new year.
"I would like to thank Orlando Pirates for giving me the opportunity to start my professional career, my trainer club, the club that moulded me into the man I am today.
"To be at the club since age of 12 is something I'm really proud of and I will always be grateful to Orlando Pirates.
"I'm ready to take this new step in my career and be a little closer to my dream with Monaco. I'm grateful for the opportunity and ready to fight for my dream."
Pirates' Head of Youth Development, Augusto Palacios, has expressed his joy at the news of Foster's move, saying moves such as this "make it all worth it".
He told the clubs official website: "It is such an honour to see Lyle moving to a big club at such a young age. As a person who is passionate about youth development, this is the type of thing that makes the long hours all worth it.
"Lyle came into my hands as a baby at 13 years old now here he is on the verge of making the biggest move of his career.
"I would like to wish him the best of luck and also thank the Foster family for their active involvement in their childs development."
