Blackpink become first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella as they join Ariana Grande on 2019 line-up
Were just three days into 2019 and Blackpink have already made history.
The DDU-DU DDU-DU singers are confirmed for the Coachella 2019 line-up, making them the first K-pop girl group to ever appear at the music and arts festival.
Blackpink will be joined by fellow South Korean indie band Hyukoh, while Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala were announced as headliners in the early hours of Thursday morning.
While theyre the first K-pop girl group to perform at the festival, Epik High were actually the first K-pop group to appear on the bill back in 2016.
Fans can flock to Indio, California to see Blackpink perform on 12 and 19 April, while Hyukoh will grace the stage on 14 and 21 April.
The exciting announcement comes not long after Coachella founder, Paul Tollett, was spotted hanging out with Blackpink on a recent trip to South Korea, so it seems their addition to the line-up was already written in the stars.

It follows a hugely successful 2018 for Blackpink, who were revealed to have the most-viewed K-pop music video worldwide that year with DDU-DU DDU-DU. The music video has amassed over 551 million views since its release on 15 June.

Opening up about their big break, Blackpink told Metro.co.uk in December: It was an honour, and amazing experience. We were worried because DDU-DU DDU-DU was a concept that we havent tried before, but thankfully we got a lot of love and it was unbelievable. It encouraged all of us to be more confident in trying something new and different.
