When Mandy and Chas Dingle come face to face in Emmerdale, fur flies – and so do the fists – and Dominic Brunt has admitted that he feared that there would be similar clashes between Lisa Riley and Lucy Pargeter as they are so similar!
Lucy told Metro.co.uk: He said “youre either going to really clash or get on really well”, and we got on!
And Dom conceded, explaining: I wondered if they would because theyre very similar people.
Thankfully, the only clashes that happened were on camera as Chas sees Paddy and Mandy sharing a flirty moment and wades in, leading to a cat fight.
But Lisa shared that the animosity between Chas and Mandy may not last long, as the pair find common ground.
She told us: Working with Lucy Pargeter was just amazing. We never worked together, I love her work on screen and the first day I came back, I wanted to tell her how brilliant shes been. Now online everyones saying Mandy and Chas are going to hate each other. We shall see – sometimes there is girl power and girls sticking together for the right reasons which I think is a brilliant thing moving forward.

Theyre very similar in that they are confident females but they live with bravado and confidence when inside theyre hurting and thats what they always wrote for me when I was here as Mandy. I honestly think Mandy and Chas are sisters – it would be wonderful to explore that because they are so similar yet theyve been through so much turmoil themselves.
For the characters though, the punch up is soon the least of their worries as Paddy is introduced to 16-year-old Vinnie, who could be his son!
