A new art exhibition will open next week at the Margaret River Gallery, exploring the unique beauty and wilderness of the world. New works by three artists will focus on what gallery director Salli Coppin described as “exquisite techniques across three very different mediums”. “Christopher Lees is an outstanding painter whose breathtaking, often surrealist Australian landscapes capture the colour, space and emotion of this vast country,” she said. “Theatrical yet calm, his works evoke in us very personal responses to a shared Australian experience. “Martine Perret is a Margaret River photographer whose aerial photographs capture the landscape as art. “In her latest works, Martine explores the patterns of Western Australias Pilbara coastal areas, from undulating sand dunes to fluid ocean currents.” Sculpturist Jason Wooldridge rounds out the talented trio. “Jason creates dynamic sculptures from steel that capture the strong lines, yet soft, elegant forms of local fauna.,” Ms Coppin said. “Inspired by his immediate environment these works are technically outstanding and a fitting tribute to the beauty and strength of our animal friends. The exhibition will be formally opened by James Bogle, award winning director of Whitely, the Bret Whitely documentary, on Thursday December 27 from 6pm to 8pm at the Margaret River Gallery on Charles West Avenue. Exhibition continues until 27 January 2019.
