Ariana Grande has been pipped to the post for Christmas Number One – and were a little bit shook.

Over the past month it looked as though the global superstar had won the title easy with her hit Thank U, Next – despite being up against the likes of Elton John.

But even Simon Cowell couldnt top this years charts with his X Factor winner Dalton Harris.

Nope, thats right, this years official Christmas Number One goes to LadBabys We Built This City… on sausage rolls.

Yes, seriously, this is not a hoax, we guess nothing is greater than our love for a good old fashioned sausage roll.

This internet sensation is watch by millions every day – so its no wonder he was able to take Arianas crown.

The 31-year-old Mark Hoyle rose to fame when he started to post up video blogs of himself and his wife trying to raise their kids.

And now they have swooped in at the last minute with their rendition of Starships 1985 hit We Built This City.

Proceeds from the single will go to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust, and Mark is over the moon with its success.

Chatting to OfficialCharts.co.uk, the star said: Thank you everybody in the UK who has got a sausage roll to the top.

I cant thank you enough not only for downloading the song but for raising money for such an incredible charity.

He added: Im honestly speechless and lost for words. Thank you so much. YES MAAATE!

Official Charts chief executive Martin Talbot congratulated LadBaby and explained how close the race to number one was.

He said: It is a truly fantastic achievement by LadBaby to claim the 2018 Official Christmas Number 1, in what has been an incredibly competitive race against two massive hits of the moment.

In doing so, he has also shown once again the enduring power of campaign singles, especially at this time of year.

The success is tribute to the huge effort put into the campaign by Ladbaby himself, plus all of his supporters – and, in raising money for the Trussell Trust, is very much in the spirit of Christmas.
