Avoid this Christmas: 24 toys that have been declared dangerous and could kill children

Central West residents are being advised to be careful when buying toys this Christmas. The NSW Government has declared 24 toys unsafe for use. Some of these toys include a Peppa Pig chainsaw, a Pikachu wand and an archery set. Read also: Watch that drink: Central West health staff urge care at Christmas Minister for Better Regulation Matt Kean said Fair Trading investigators checked more than 560 stores in the state and found 24 toys unsafe. “Most of the dangerous toys, like the Peppa Pig chainsaw, failed testing because the battery compartment isnt secured, or they have small parts that can fall off,” Mr Kean said. “The archery set failed because projectiles are required to have labels warning users not to point the toy at peoples eyes, but this one doesnt. “These toys might look fun and innocent, but loose batteries, projectiles and choking hazards can injure or even kill small children.” Read also: Parkes businesses need community support, residents urged to buy gift cards Mr Kean said investigators also discovered a dangerous decorative wreath during the compliance operation. The decorative wreath is highly flammable and the trader stocking the product has agreed to recall it. “This wreath has four candles sitting amongst some fake foliage.
