Gordinho return to Chiefs could be ‘blessing in disguise’

Cape Town – Bloemfontein Celtic defender Lorenzo Gordinho says leaving Kaizer Chiefs on loan and then returning in January could be a blessing in disguise.

Gordinho has spent the last 12 months on loan from the Glamour Boys where he has performed extremely well in particular under the guidance of current incumbent Steve Komphela.

He told the Sowetan: "When I left Chiefs I didn't know what was going to happen and it has turned out to be something good.

"Now that I'm returning there is uncertainty of what will happen. The previous coach (Giovanni Solinas) wanted an early return for me but that didn't work out.

"I guess he just wanted to see all the players that belong to the club."

In 2018/19 the likes of Eric Mathoho, Mario Booysen and Siyabonga Ngezana have struggled at times although there has been signs of improvement under Ernst Middendorp.

In addition, Celtic Chief Executive Officer Khumbulani Konco confirmed that the player is to return to the Glamour Boys.

He told the same publication: "I can confirm that there has not been a request from Chiefs for Lorenzo's immediate return from loan.

"He will train with us until the last game against Cape Town City on Saturday."
