Chiefs injury update: Billiat out until 2019

Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs revealed that star forward Khama Billiat has been ruled out until 2019, with the likes of Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Erick Mathoho also side-lined.

Chiefs have their final fixture of 2018 when they go up against Madagascar's Elgeco Plus in Saturday's CAF Confederations Cup First Round second leg tie at the Stade Municipal de Mahamasina in Antananarivo.

The match is essentially a dead-rubber with the Glamour Boys having demolished the minnows 3-0 last weekend in the first leg.

With that said, there are a number of injury doubts which could affect the result on the day.

Amakhosi physiotherapist Dave Milner told the team's official website: "Khama has a hip adductor muscle strain. He will be rested for two weeks to recover.

"Mario Booysen was another concern from the Elgeco match, but he has been cleared to fully train from Wednesday.

"George Maluleka has a hamstring muscle strain. He will be out for one week. Philani Zulu fractured a bone in his face. He had to have minor surgery and we are awaiting the report to inform us of the extent of the injury," he continued.

"'Tower' (Mathoho) will be in plaster for another three weeks before he starts with his rehabilitation programme. 'Rama' has started rehabilitation on the knee and is doing very well.

"We hope to have Joseph Molangoane back in the next four to six weeks."

Meanwhile, striker Ryan Moon has recovered from an eye socket injury and is fit to return to face Elgeco.
