Santa surprises at community party in the park | photos

There was excitement and cheer as sirens rang and Santa arrived in the fire truck at the community Christmas party in the park on Monday. Students from St Josephs, Nyngan Public, the Early Learning Centre and Preschool flocked to Santa as he arrived at the party to deliver bags of lollies. Event organiser from the Community Hub Katie White said it was a “lovely morning” that came together with the help of the towns community services. ALSO MAKING NEWS: – Nyngan community carols at Davidson Park, photos – Nyngan Observer wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year – Three people injured after a car and a truck collide on Mitchell Highway “We had a mixture of ten community services on board this year including the local firies, the schools, the mines, the Community Hub, NDIS, Catholic Care, the council, TAFE, Ability Links and Mission Australia,” Ms White said. “We also had a few volunteers which is really good to see them getting involved in the community as well.” Kids were treated to a number of activities including drumming, bauble painting, ball games, hair and face painting and a barbecue. Santa also led children in Christmas songs and some drumming. Ms White said it was thanks to her elf connections she was able to get in contact with Santa to encourage him to come along to the party. “I have a few elf friends, so Im quite lucky there,” Ms White said. “So we gave them a letter and they took it back to Santa, and he actually called me and said he would love to attend, so the Nyngan firies thought they would help bring him along.” “Its been a lovely morning utilising the park on our main street.” “Thank you to everyone that helped out and the Community Hub wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.” “Keep an eye out for some school holiday activities in the coming weeks.” Check out more photos by visiting www.nynganobserver.com.au .
