Three people have been injured after a car and a truck collided on the Mitchell Highway early Tuesday morning. Emergency services were called to an accident six kilometres north of Narromine at about 8.30am. Police allege that both vehicles were travelling west on the Mitchell Highway toward Trangie when the car in front pulled to the side of the road and attempted to make a u-turn. It was reported the truck travelling behind was carrying 47 tonnes of barley and was unable to pull up in time colliding with the car flipping both vehicles. The truck driver escaped with minor injury, however the 74-year-old male driver of the vehicle experienced pain to his right shoulder and an abrasion to his lower right leg. The 78-year-old female passenger also suffered from spinal pain. All three were taken to Dubbo Base Hospital in a stable condition. Orana Mid-Western Police Inspector Paul Stephens is reminding people to be aware of other road users. “If youre going to do anything as far as u-turns, obviously be aware of who else is on the road,” Inspector Stephens said. “Especially in an area there where it is a 110 kilometre zone and vehicles wont stop in the same length of time as theyre travelling faster.” “So just be aware of other road users, and not just how youre driving but how theyre driving as well.”
