The first nine shortlists for the 2019 Oscars have been announced – and Black Panther has paved the way with four nominations.

The Marvel favourite has bagged nods for make-up and hairstyling, original score, original song and visual effects.

This comes just days after Black Panther was put up for Best Picture at this years Golden Globes too.

Basically, Wakanda is bringing it to awards season this year – even if they make it through only one of the shortlist categories.

It appears that Marvel in general has got an early lead in the competition with Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and The Wasp also being recognised from the franchise.

As well as both joining Black Panther in the Visual Effects Category, Avengers: Infinity War has also been short-listed in the Original Score.
