Emily Blunt is keen for a Mary Poppins Returns sequel even though film has not yet been released

Mary Poppins Returns hasnt even hit UK screens yet, and already Emily Blunt is hoping for a sequel.

Last week, the 35-year-old was seen celebrating after the movies premiere with her Jungle Cruise co-star Jack Whitehall and her Mary Poppins co-star Emily Mortimer.

And now shes gone and expressed just how much she loved being part of the film.

When asked if shed ever reprise her role, while chatting to CBS Sunday Morning show, the star said: Yes! I would!

I want to be her again. I like being her. Shes completely bizarre and unknowable.

She said she loved playing the role (Disney via AP)

She added: What I love about her is really what Travers said about her: “In order to fly, you need something solid to take off from.”

And I love that about her. Practical, yet magical.

And it appears fans loved the movie too, as the film has screened for the first time to lengthy applause and a standing ovation last month.

Emily has been praised for her role by Dick Van Dyke, who will be making an appearance in one of the numbers.

While filming was in full swing, the 93-year-old said: Nobody compares to Julie Andrews but Emilys going to be a good Mary.

The Girl On The Train is going to be Mary Poppins, he quipped.

One of the films producer, Marc Platt, has also spoken out about the movie, where he commended the film for showing optimism and hope in todays society.

During his appearance at the Producers Guild Award event, Marc said: Its a very complicated time were living in.

It is so valuable to export this [film] to the world at this moment in time, when we wish for more optimism and hope, which we all had as kids.

Mary Poppins Returns sees the magical nanny head back to Cherry Tree Lane 30 years after the events in Mary Poppins to help a grown-up Jane and Michael Banks, played by Mortimer and Ben Whishaw, following the death of Michaels wife.

The film will hit UK cinemas on 21 December 2018.
