Youd never expect a Dingle wedding to go smoothly – especially one on Christmas Day – so the residents of Emmerdale should expect plenty of chaos this festive season as Jessie Grant springs a surprise ceremony on her unsuspecting groom Marlon.
Jessie is determined to prove her feelings and commitment to Marlon, who has been wearing his heart on his sleeve over their relationship, and a surprise wedding seems like the perfect gesture. But Marlon thinks the big day is in aid of Sam and Lydia – and this soon leads to Sams hopes being raised!
As Sam and Marlon end up far away from the village after getting drunk and falling asleep in the back of a delivery truck, Marlon blurts out that he needs to get Sam back so he can marry Lydia! Sam is overwhelmed at the thought of the happy day he has ahead but as they race home, the truth soon dawns.
As Marlon learns that he is actually the groom, he faints on the spot while Sam is left crushed with disappointment. Its not really what Jessie was hoping for from her big day – but can the family salvage it and enjoy some Christmas joy as Jessie and Marlon tie the knot?

Sandra Marvin, who plays Jessie, told Metro.co.uk: Its very colourful and fun. It is really lovely. And some of Jessies family come down but as in true soap fashion, there are so many hiccups along the way – when Marlon eventually gets there, the first thing he does when he realises and the penny drops that its actually him not Sam, he just faints. And then theres final twists. So do they make it all the way?
If they do, Jessie will soon have an iconic soap surname. And Sandra couldnt be happier with that.
She grinned: Jessie Dingle, whod have thunk it? She definitely has the strength of the Dingle women, and shes very protective. The same way the Dingles are very protective of their own, she naturally has that. I think youve seen loads of toing and froing with the Billy storyline and the tension with Ellis and shes very protective of her family. I think shell slot in quite easily and quite well there. Shell be lining up with the other women!
