NSW Angus will reward two drought affected couples with trip to Sydney

Two couples from drought affected area in northern and western NSW will win an expenses paid trip to the 2019 Sydney Royal Show. The Business Recognition Reward was conceived by the NSW State Committee of Angus Australia chairman Mark Lucas and secretary Richard Buck, who were looking at a way to help Angus cattle breeders affected by the ongoing dry. “We were looking at trying to give some relief and respite to a few people who have been doing it pretty tough for a long time,” Mr Lucas said. For three days, the couples will stay at the Novatel Ibis Hotel, in Sydney Olympic Park. They will attend the show between April 12-14, with entry tickets supplied by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW. READ ALSO: The two couples will also attend the Angus judging and be guests at the NSW State Angus Committee cocktail party. The couples visit will coincide with the Angus Feature Show, held as part of the breeds centenary celebrations in Australia. “It (the trip) coincided with what we would say is the pinnacle of the Angus breed in its celebration year….,” Mr Lucas said. In NSW alone, there are approximately 3000 Angus breeders who are members of Angus Australia. “We want it to be a business recognition. If youre in business and doing it tough, we want to recognise the fact that youre using Angus cattle. And secondly we want to reward you for sticking to the business in a pretty trying time,” Mr Lucas said. ALSO MAKING NEWS: Mr Lucas said some producers have been doing it tough for three years. “They (the winners) will be dedicated breeders of cattle, they wont be traders, croppers, were supporting the people who are supporting the Angus breed,” he said. NSW Angus Australia secretary Mr Buck hopes the trip will take the stress off the producers for a few days. Two ambassadors have been chosen to chaperone the couples during their stay – Fiona Petersen, Landmark Wagga, and Matthew Macri, Skyfall Angus, Camden. For more information on the Business Recognition Award, contact Richard Buck on 0417 077 387 or email [email protected] The winners will be announced early 2019 and dont need to be members of the Angus society.
