The owners and first residents of the Margaret River Lifestyle Village opened the doors to the estate on Saturday to welcome friends and family to celebrate the official opening of their new Clubhouse. The facility was opened by Vasse MLA Libby Mettam, who noted the suitability of the village development to the South West lifestyle. “Margaret River is an ideal location for the lifestyle village,” she said. “Twenty-one percent of the Margaret River population are over 60 years old and catering to this demographic is an important consideration.” Ms Mettam noted the extreme growth in areas around Margaret River and Busselton, and noted the importance of catering to the increasing population across all demographics. Village owners invited families and friends along to view the village display homes, meet some of the residents and kick back to live music by local musicians Dave and Bec Mann. First to move into the village, resident Sandra Lewis said she was well and truly settled, and had already found herself with a conveniently located social circle. “We are always visiting each other or catching up for a wine in the afternoon, its just been lovely,” she said. “Were also looking forward to meeting the new residents as they move in, its just such a fantastic place to live and everyone is really nice and great fun!” Village Project Director Adan Nicholson said it was great to see the Clubhouse being utilised by residents. “Its a great day here in the village and so good to see all the facilities being used in the Clubhouse for what it was designed for – entertainment, cooking and fun,” he said. “We wanted to invite families along as we more often take referrals from the sons and daughters of our residents who move in. “Already the village seems to have attracted a wonderful group of people who have moved in and appear very happy. “With further plans for a microbrewery, and wine making facilities, there will be plenty for the residents to be involved in.” 21 homes have been sold, out of the 37 homes available in Stage 1 of the development. Stage 2 should commence in the new few months, once sales have been secured for stage one. Stage 2 involves 17 homes for sale, different home design options as well as an indoor, heated swimming pool and microbrewery.
