John Lennons loved ones and fans have been paying tribute to the late musician on 38th anniversary of his murder.

Earlier today, a tweet from the former Beatles Twitter account was shared: Today as we think of John and all the great works he gave us, please share your favourite songs, lyrics, quotes, philosophies, artworks, doodles and memories of John with the hashtag #JohnLennon.

Fans quickly got to sharing their favourite Lennon quotes including: Everything will be okay in the end. If its not okay, its not the end and You may say Im a dreamer but Im not the only one.

Many also showed off tattoos dedicated to the late singer.

Yoko Ono, Johns wife, retweeted the request, and shared her own message.

Everything you think and do affects our society, she wrote. So think peace. Start with that.

It comes after Sir Paul McCartney paid tribute to John at the March For Our Lives protest back in March, with a plea to end gun violence.
