Tiffany Haddish in talks for 21 Jump Street remake but fans say its soon after Channing Tatums version
Hollywood might be ready for another 21 Jump Street remake – but movie fans arent.
Comedian Tiffany Haddish is reportedly in talks for a lead role in the previously announced all-female remake of the action caper.
According to Collider, the 39-year-old is hotly-tipped to play a teacher, possibly posing as the mother of a student while actually an undercover police officer.
Up and coming actress Awkwafina is rumoured to take on a supporting role as Tiffanys sidekick, following her star turn in Oceans Eight alongside Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett earlier this year.
While its exciting news for two of Hollywoods rising comedic actresses, it seems fans just arent quite ready for another 21 Jump Street remake.
Double-act Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill starred in the first remake back in 2012 and the sequel, 22 Jump Street, was only released four years ago in 2014.

Reacting to the news of Tiffany and Awkwafina possible casting, one critic tweeted: I love Tiffany Haddish, I love Awkwafina, but Im just not into the idea of this 21 Jump Street reboot.
Offering a suggestion for the all-female version, another chimed in: Why reboot? Just make it a 3rd installment with a new pair starring her.
I love Tiffany Haddish, I love Awkwafina, but Im just not into the idea of this 21 Jump Street reboot.
Nor was I into the idea of a Jump Street/Men in Black crossover.
Call me a basic bitch: I want Lord and Miller to do a 23 Jump Street.

Not exactly sold on the idea, another reacted: So were already rebooting 21 Jump Street with Tiffany Haddish in the lead? Okay, this so wrong that it can only come from Sony…oh, wait.
Predicting a possible problem with the franchise, one other critic said: 21 Jump Street worked because it had such a strong dynamic with Tatum & Hill.
One was handsome and dumb while the other was super nerdy which made for great comedy. Tiffany Haddish & Awkwafina have a very similar shtick so I cant see this working out as well.

Yikes.
Still, Sony are hopeful about the female-driven reboot with Sanford Panitch telling Variety earlier this year: Weve had enough male buddy comedies. The script is really funny and has a freshness to it.
