Morrissey is about to bless our eardrums with covers from the likes of Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell, as he announced a collection of renditions will be released under the album California Son.

Get keen, you saucy Morrissey fans.

If you want a date, though, we might have to wait a little longer…

What he did tell us, though, was that we can expect 12 tracks including Dylans Only A Pawn In Their Game and Its Over by Orbison, covered by the Smiths crooner.

The 59-year-old will also take on tracks by Laura Nyro, Carly Simon and Dionne Warwick.

While the information surrounding the release was limited, he likes to keep it short and sweet by the looks of things, the frontman did grant us the tracklist for the record on his official website late last night, sharing the LP was produced by Joe Chiccarelli and will be released by BMG.

The announcement comes just weeks after Morrissey was mobbed by fans in San Diego, forcing him to cut his concert short when members of the audience swarmed the stage.

Let this be a lesson to all – please dont swam the stage ever.

While it was thought he was assaulted by a fan, Morrissey denied claims he was under threat or that any of his passionate fans tried to physically assault
him.

He said: The concert and the crowd were a dream night for me. I was honored and grateful for such an excited and loving response.

It concluded an outstanding set of U.S dates and I am absolutely thrilled, NME reported.

At the time his reps told Metro.co.uk: Nobody tried to punch M last night. Morrisseys fans are not malicious.

The fans were simply doing what they have been doing for almost 30 years. Trying anything they could do to jump onstage and touch him, or hug him.

The fan in question was certainly more aggressive in reaching out for him than most, so security had to do their job and subdue the fan. Thats all it was.

They added: In the end no one was hurt, and no one was arrested.
