17-year-old Coronation Street star Alex Bain becomes a father as his daughter Lydia-Rose is born
Coronation Street actor Alex Bain has become a father at the age of 17 after his girlfriend Levi Selby gave birth to their daughter Lydia-Rose. The star, who plays Simon Barlow in the soap, has sat his GCSEs this year and is said to be delighted by the new arrival.
It had been rumoured that the young couple had split when news of Levis pregnancy was revealed on her social media pages but this was later quashed.
Alex said at the time on Facebook: Im still with my girlfriend, and cant wait to have my own little family!
A source told The Sun: They are absolutely over the moon – its the greatest gift they could have hoped for this Christmas.
On screen, Alex has been busy as Simon, who has been bullied by troublesome Tyler. The soap is set to air a teenage pregnancy storyline next year when Amy will find herself expecting a baby. Fans have been left wondering if Simon could be the dad but Corrie bosses remain tight lipped over the plotline.

Simon is expected to be involved in dramatic stunt scenes which may see him trapped on a blazing boat.
