Tessa Thompson has downplayed the controversy surrounding an LGBT scene that was axed from Thor: Ragnarok.

Marvel fans were furious to learn that a scene had been cut, showing a woman leaving Valkyries bedroom after spending the night with Tessas character.

It was the only head-on reference to Valkyries bisexuality in the film but the actress doesnt seem to be as mad as the fans are.

Speaking to The Independent, Tessa, 35, said: One thing to clarify about that is it was so in passing. I hope we get to that space, where someones sexuality is as immaterial as me drinking this green juice.

Needless to say, the movie studios received much criticism for appearing to silence the LGBT arc but Tessa says there was no conspiracy on their side.

The Creed actress revealed: It wasnt Marvel or Disney or anyone extracting that because it was an issue, it just was like, that particular moment didnt make sense in the context of the scene.

And there were other beautiful things where you get a sense of her back story. The woman that dies is her lover.

The Asgardians sexuality certainly wasnt news to Tessa, who admits she always played her queer anyway.

She explained: In performance we were, like, “Thats your lover”. So in my mind it isnt cut; I played her as a woman thats queer.

I hope that we get to a space, in terms of the stories that we tell, where thats something that gets to exist, and it doesnt have to be noteworthy.

Elsewhere in the interview, Tessa also addressed her own sexuality after she admitted to being in relationships with both men and women earlier this year. While many saw it as her coming out moment, Tessa reveals it didnt feel that way for her as she was always interested in both sexes.

The American actress also refuses to box herself into one category regarding her sexuality and doesnt consider herself bisexual by label.

Its not known when Tessa will be making another appearance as Valkyrie but its possible she could make a surprise appearance in Avengers 4.

Well, whenever we get that elusive trailer.
