Meet Lewis Capaldi – the Brits Critics Choice Award 2019 nominee


The BRIT Awards has revealed its nominees for the Critics Choice Award celebrating the up-and-coming musical talent the country has to offer.
Those hand-picked by industry experts were Lewis Capaldi, Mahalia and Sam Fender who could all follow in the likes of Adele, Sam Smith, Florence and The Machine and Ellie Goulding – all of whom have won the coveted award.
Who is Lewis Capaldi?
Age: 22
Best known for: Scottish Lewis gained attention after his debut track Bruises stormed streaming services last year.
The track amassed millions upon millions of plays on Spotify worldwide and led to him being snapped up by Capitol and Virgin Records.
How has the year treated him? Pretty well – Lewis has opened for fellow Brit Award-winner Sam Smith and One Directions Niall Horan.
The singer-songwriter has also sold a staggering 50,000 headline show tickets, as well as racking up 250 million plays across streaming services.

Following his sell-out show at Londons O2 Shepherds Bush, hes preparing to hit the road across Europe with Bastille next year.

What does he say? Absolutely honoured to have been shortlisted for this years BRITs Critics Choice award alongside two unreal artists.
Genuinely cannot believe Im being included in something like this and do not think Ive done enough to be deserving of it!
He added: That being said, from here on in I will insist that those around me, including my mother and father, refer to me only as “BRITs Critics Choice Award Nominee, Lewis Capaldi”.
The winner of the Critics Choice Award will be announced on Friday December 7, with the Brit Awards 2019 broadcasted live on Wednesday February 20 from Londons O2 Arena.
