Community help needed for Christmas hamper drive

With the support of Lotterywest and local businesses and groups, the Margaret River Community Centre (MRCC) will again provide hampers to those in the community who need some Christmas cheer this festive season. The hampers have been collected and distributed for more than 20 years. “In 2017 we assisted 149 adults and 108 children through the programme,” MRCC Administration Officer Lyn Moorfoot said. “We are asking the community to please bring non-perishables and new toys to our collection box in Riverfresh IGA or to our office in the lead-up to hamper day. “I would especially like to encourage families to discuss with children the idea of sharing with other children who, for whatever reason, might not have much to look forward to this Christmas.” Hamper Day will be on Thursday 20 December. If you, or someone you know, would like to put your name on the list for a hamper, please call the office on 9757 3200 or visit between 9am and 1pm Monday to Friday. On Tuesday 18 December, volunteers will be sorting all the hamper food into approximately 100-plus hamper boxes. If you would like to volunteer, phone Lyn on 9757 3200.
