This year it wasnt reindeer's pulling Santas sleigh to deliver some early presents to the students at Hermidale Public School. The Central West Riders club were on hand to donate and accompany Santas visit to the students from the small school located 44 kilometres west of Nyngan. So far Santa has been visiting the students at Hermidale for six years, and this year thought it would be great to help bring some early cheer and joy into their life with the help of the social motorcycle club. “Hermidales always on Santas list,” Santa said. Santa told Fairfax media that it was the individual members of the Central West Riders club, which includes members from Dubbo, Narromine, Armatree and Gilgandra who purchased and donated all presents for the children, who he realised have been doing it tough for a while. “Its wonderful to bring cheer to such a small community,” Santa said. Story continues after video: The Central West Riders group meet together once a month and partake in a number of charity rides, however this year they decided to help Santa and the Hermidale CWA put on their annual Christmas event. “We decided to come out for the ride to help Santa deliver presents to the kids,” former Hermidale resident and member of the Central West Riders Steve Pecock said. “We just wanted to help give the kids a smile, especially after doing it tough with the drought,” he said. The Hermidale CWA ladies prepared a morning tea for Santa, his helpers and children to enjoy, which President of the Hermidale branch Margaret Gudgeon said was “precious to the community”. “[The kids] are the towns future, so we have to look after them, and we look forward to it so much,” Mrs Gudgeon said. Not only did kids get surprise presents from Santa but the Hermidale CWA took the opportunity to donate a $100 scholarship for their schooling to the two eldest students at the school, Clive Cromack and Makita Turk. “We look forward to it every year,” Mrs Gudgeon said. “Its wonderful, it really is,” she said. Santa presented all the kids with their gifts, but said he couldnt have done it alone. “A very big thank you to the Central West Riders for helping me out today and donating all the presents,” Santa said. “And a big thank you to the Hermidale CWA.” “And last but not least a big thanks to the kids for coming out, its what its all about,” Santa said.
